Gay Marriage. . .and Other Scary Things

Here’s a comment I left on this article while the same-sex marriage battles were being fought (in people’s minds):

“As a clergyperson who has led a number of celebrations of marriage, I have to ask these “defenders” if they feel a civil ceremony is blessed by God, how about a Wiccan ceremony, or a Hindu? Because these “preservationists” are overwhelmingly Christian, one must assume they will only accept Christian marriage (as they define it). So, all of us who have been married by someone other than one of their chosen and official clergy are not married “in the eyes of God.” Seems like same sex marriage should be the least of their preservationist worries.”
